This almost looks like a cross to me now that i look at it on this computer screen. I had no idea how to tackle this project. We had to draw drapes that were hanging off upside down stools. It was hard at first, but I picked a section of the stools. I basically sketched this whole thing first then went over it with shadows, lighting and details. I loved working on this project cause I got to use shading . I love shading so so much. Also I was introduced to something called white charcoal. It is the coolest thing since sliced bread. I do love this piece, but my art friend looked at it and pointed out that it looked like a cross.
Ouch ! These pears are on fire! Just kidding guys. But in all seriousness these are my pear paintings. We as a class went step by step painting these pears. I never painted fruit before. These pears were super fly. i tried using different colors for the background, but yah. These are my babies. I loved painting with these colors. I went from a dark pear to a light bright pear. These are so beautiful .
Meet Mr. Billy Bones, and I gotta tell you he is one big lady killer. With that rose wedged between his teeth, he is just ready to steal your girl. Men you better watch out and keep your women indoors when good old Billy Bones is walking down the street.
But in all seriousness this is my linoleum block carving print. During this project we took linoleum and carved it into a picture. I carved my into a skull with vines wrapping around it . This has to be my all time favorite project we have worked on. Rolling paint onto the carved block and then printing it on paper. Wow that was a bundle of extreme fun. Not to sound like the worst human ever on this planet, but ginger bread men are a very stereotypical thing that you see around the holiday season. BUT. But I really wanted to make one so I did. And I love it . I did get pretty creative with this in my opinion. Like for instance I painted this ceramic creature gold instead of leaving it in its brown state. Which is the usual color for the ginger bread population. Also i painted his bow green instead of the color red, like many people do. I also gave this cutie a great name . Francis. Yes a ginger bread man named Francis. I gave little Francis to my mother for the holidays, and she was over joyed. So in this merry season of giving I hope you have a good life.
The facial structure of a human is very complex. Like trying to find a strand of hair in your alphabet soup. I never really knew that the eyes were in the center of the face. After learning that I used it, and I have to say in my opinion I love this. I really don't know what this is but i went all out on it, and had a lot of creative fun. there were no rules to this project. And no rules means creative freedom. Well thats a lie, we had to paint the facial structure of a human. One thing i did know coming into this though was that people do not have pencil necks. so i painted the neck nice and thick.I would have to say my all time favorite part of this is the eyes. i just painted them white giving no or a lot of emotion. its what ever the viewer thinks.
Marshmallows are the orange juice to my toothpaste. I hate marshmallows. And trying to draw them was even worse. But it was good practice for shading, which by the way i failed at. I wasn't to found of this activity. Not just because I loath marshmallows. Its because i rushed threw this , just to be honest. If i went back and tried again maybe these would actually look like marshmallows with tooth picks stuck in them.
